Nu
Flow Water Filtration
Nu Flow Water Filtration Systems cleanse municipal water delivered to
your home without using added chemicals. Our whole-house filters produce
clean, safe, and great-tasting
water from every faucet in your home. Carbon filtration
safely and thoroughly removes chemicals, toxins, sediments and particulates
from water before it enters your home. Nu Flow’s Ultra-Filtration
further removes potentially lethal waterborne contaminants (below) such
as Legionnaire’s Disease, as well as E-Coli
bacteria which are frequently released into the water supply when municipal
systems fail, perhaps after a local water main break.

What’s In Your Water?
From the moment pipes are put into service, the adverse
effects of natural deterioration and corrosion build-up are all too familiar:
colored, bad tasting and foul smelling drinking water
and water filled with harmful heavy metals.
Do you know that, per the Dr. Lance A. Wallace Study done by the EPA, in a ten-minute shower you absorb more
chlorine through your skin and through inhalation than you do drinking
eight 8-oz. glasses of
tap water? Are you aware that the water from your tap typically contains
as much or more chlorine as is found in the average swimming pool? When
you think about it, do you really know what’s in your water?
The Safe
Drinking Water Act mandates the EPA to strictly regulate contaminants
in community drinking water. In order to meet those standards, chemicals
including and other additives are added to our water
supply. Trihalomethanes (THMs) are a byproduct of
the chlorination process that most public drinking water systems use for
disinfection. Chloroform is a primary THM concern. The EPA does not allow
public systems to have more than 100 parts per billion of THMs in the
treated water. Many municipal
systems have had difficulty meeting minimum
standards.
We have become accustomed to turning
on a faucet and expecting the water we use to be reasonably safe. Our
environment has been continuously assaulted by toxic
waste and chemical dumping into our water supplies. Every day we learn
of another region or town where the public health has been threatened:
a ‘boil order’ was issued because a local water main break
revealed the presence of e-coli virus in the city
water supply. This means residents cannot shower without inhaling fumes
and absorbing toxins topically; and certainly can’t risk drinking
or cooking with tainted water from the tap.
Environmental groups, public safety organizations and
regulatory agencies have also been concerned with the hazards posed by
disinfection byproducts and other unwanted chemicals in the water supply.
Whether your water comes from a municipal water source or a private well,
you want to know that your household water is safe for normal consumption.
Nu Flow Filtration Systems are approved by the National Sanitary Foundation
and meet the ANSI Standards 42 and 53.
Activated carbon is the most effective way to filter
municipal water. Activated
Carbon is nature’s filtering system, and is the most effective process
for removing organic chemicals and compounds from water. ¬The water
that is being delivered to us by municipalities may be harmful to our
health from all the chemicals used by cities to rid the water of bacteria.
Th¬e chemicals being used in our water cause corrosion in copper piping….
What do you think those same chemicals are doing to our bodies?
Heavy Metal
Leaching
Who wants to hear that their tap water can actually make them sick? Unlike
chloramines, which leave a residual taste, color or smell, the most harmful
metals - including lead and copper, are undetectable by taste, color or
smell – making them a particularly insidious health hazard. Chlorine
interaction with metal pipe causes heavy metals to leach into water carried
within a pipe. Research
studies conducted by the EPA and other government bodies and educational
institutions reflect a growing concern over the presence of heavy metals
in drinking water and the adverse effects of high lead and copper levels
in infants, children and pregnant women.
Lead and copper contamination in household drinking water
can lead to serious, long-term health problems. The U.S. Dept. of Health
and Human Services postulates that lead is the number one environmental
threat to our children’s health. Increasing exposure rates are caused
by continued consumption of water from aging, corroded potable
water systems. Many systems are still fitted with original lead-based
pipe, are fitted with lead-based plumbing fixtures or, more frequently,
lead is used to fuse copper pipe systems together. According to the EPA,
on average, 10-20% of a child’s lead exposure will come from drinking
water.
For instance, when making baby formula most parents know it is essential
to boil tap water to kill bacteria and remove any substances that might
upset baby's tummy. However, you may not know that impurities such as
chlorine, lead and other heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides and rust
can remain in tap water even after boiling - which can't be good for baby,
or anyone else in the household.
The Nu Flow water filtration system eliminates all of the bad
elements and impurities so you can feel good about the water your family
is using.
Water Flow, Smell and Discoloration
Municipal suppliers add chemicals to the water supply
to meet EPA requirements for control of bacteria levels. These additives
- mainly chloramines, etch into pipe walls and are sometimes detectable
in water’s smell, taste, and coloration. On average, there is as
much or more chlorine in tap water as there is in a typical swimming pool.
Chlorine etching erodes the pipe wall, eventually creating pinhole leaks
which result in broken pipes if undetected. The chlorine interaction with
metal pipe causes heavy metals to leach into a system’s water supply.
Nu Flow’s Water Filtration Systems will solve the
problem and prevent harmful chemicals, toxins, viruses and disease from
being ingested, absorbed through the skin, or inhaled by you and your
family.
How the Process Works
How It Works: The Centaur
Activated Carbon Filtration System
Activated Carbon Filtration works by attracting and holding certain chemicals
as water passes through it. Activated Carbon (“AC”) is a highly
porous material; therefore, it has an extremely high surface area for
contaminant adsorption. AC is made of tiny clusters of carbon atoms stacked
upon one another. The carbon source is a variety of materials, such as
peanut shells or coal. The raw carbon source is slowly heated in the absence
of air to produce a high carbon material. The carbon is activated by passing
oxidizing gases through the material at extremely high temperatures. The
activation process produces the pores that result in such high adsorptive
properties. The adsorption process depends on the following factors: 1)
physical properties of the AC, such as pore size distribution and surface
area; 2) the chemical nature of the carbon source, or the amount of oxygen
and hydrogen associated with it; 3) chemical composition and concentration
of the contaminant; 4) the temperature and pH of the water; and 5) the
flow rate or time exposure of water to AC.
Activated carbon (AC) filtration is the most effective method in removing
organic contaminants from water. Organic substances are composed of two
basic elements, carbon and hydrogen. Because organic chemicals are often
responsible for taste, odor, and color problems, AC filtration can generally
be used to improve aesthetically objectionable water. AC filtration will
also remove chloramines. AC filtration is recognized by the Water Quality
Association as an acceptable method to maintain certain drinking water
contaminants within the limits of the EPA National Drinking Water Standards
(Table 1).

AC filtration removes some organic chemicals that can
be harmful if present in quantities above the EPA Health Advisory Level
(HAL). Included in this category are trihalomethanes
(THM), pesticides, industrial solvents (halogenated hydrocarbons), polychlorinated
biphenyls (PCBs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs). Radon gas can also be removed from water by AC filtration, but
actual removal rates of radon for different types of AC filtration equipment
have not been established. THMs are a byproduct of the chlorination process
that most public drinking water systems use for disinfection. Chloroform
is the primary THM of concern. EPA does not allow public systems to have
more than 100 parts per billion (ppb) of THMs in their treated water.
Some municipal systems have had difficulty in meeting this standard.
How It Works: The Ultra
Filtration System
The principle of ultra-filtration (“UF”)
is physical separation. The extent to which dissolved solids, turbidity
and microorganisms are removed is determined by the size of the pores
in the membranes. Substances that are larger than the pores in the membranes
are fully removed. Substances that are smaller than the pores of the membranes
are partially removed, depending on the construction of a refuse layer
on the membrane. Ultra-filtration is a pressure-dependent process, which
removes dissolved solids and other substances from water.
A UF membrane functions as a molecular sleeve. It separates
dissolved molecules on the basis of size by passing a solution through
an infinitesimally fine filter. The ultra-filter is a tough, thin, selectively
permeable membrane that retains most macromolecules above a certain size
and high molecular-weight substances including colloids, microorganisms
and pathogens. Smaller molecules, such as solvents and ionized contaminants,
are allowed to pass into the filtrate. Thus, UF provides a retained fraction
(retentate) that is rich in large molecules and a filtrate that contains
few, if any, of these molecules.
Ultra Filtration delivers the highest level of purity
and the best tasting water to the whole house water system at flow rates
up to 10 gpm and uses minimal water to keep the systems clean and regenerated.
Nu Flow Filtration is environmentally friendly because it does not add
any chemicals, sodium or potassium to filter your water.
Ultra filtration is increasingly applied in the production
of high purity water up to 99.9999% based on an independent lab study
done by Bio Sphere. For complete removal of viruses, ultra filtration
is required. Examples of fields where ultra filtration is applied:
- The medical and dental industries
- The restaurant industry
- The dairy industry
- The food industry
- The metal industry
- The textile industry
- Bottling and soft drink industry
- Aquarium water treatment

Flushing Process
A fast flush is accomplished by opening both ends of the filtering
cartridge or capillary membranes, and forcing a high velocity of water
through the bore, thus flushing the debris to the outlet. |
How the Carbon and Ultra Filtration
Systems Work Together
The Aqua Guardian Approach
The Aqua Guardian System combines Ultra Filtration with
Carbon Filtration to remove both waterborne contaminants and organic compounds
from your home’s water supply before it enters your pipes.
Water enters the Ultra-Filtration System from the main
water line. Water permeates through fiber bores and filters water down
to .02 microns. Water then filters through carbon and is pumped out through
the center dip tube.
The water then enters the carbon filter from the Ultra-Filtration
System, which protects your whole house from waterborne contaminants such
as viruses and bacteria. Removes chemicals, chloramines, and disinfection
byproducts from the water supply that cause water to taste and smell odorous
and significantly reduces heavy metals. Filtered water is then routed
into the home to all plumbing fixtures.
These systems deliver the highest level of water purity
to the entire home at flow rates up to 10 gpm. In addition to being self-maintaining
systems with automated flush cycle controllers, the filters use only a
minimal amount of water to stay clean and regenerated.
The Benefits

no maintenance required. It just makes sense!
Why Choose Nu Flow Water Filtration Systems
over Other Brands
- Nu Flow’s Centaur Carbon Filtration is the only
system which removes chloramines, unlike other carbon filtration which
removes chlorine and ammonia but not the byproduct
- Nu Flow’s Ultra Filtration is the only unit
which significantly reduces heavy metals*
- Nu Flow is the only company which offers both carbon
filtration and ultra filtration, or a combination of the two filters:
the Aqua Guardian System
- Nu Flow’s customer service is unsurpassed in
the industry; we educate you about our products – you won’t
get smoke and mirrors from us
- Our filtration units require no maintenance
- Our filtration units are the most technologically
advanced and produce water as close to pure as any water available in
the marketplace today
* Unless a manufacturer
other tha Nu Flow water filtration system publishes that its product will remove heavy metals,
the consumer should assume their filtration system is not effective in
removing them.
Quick Licensed Installation and No Maintenance Required
Both the Carbon Activated and Ultra Filtration systems
are installed by a licensed contractor in approximately two hours and are self-maintaining systems
with automated flush cycle controllers. This means unsightly filtration
systems do not sit on your kitchen counters or under your sinks, but sit
out of the way in your garage. The systems maintain themselves and for
an average of 8 to 10 years you never have to think about them. We’ll
put you on our ‘Reminder List’ and let you know when it’s
time to service them again. Never again will you have to bother with replacing
filters or hauling bottled water and recycling the plastic. The Nu Flow
Filtration solution provides better-than-bottled water in the most convenient
way possible.
Cost Savings
The typical family of four uses about 7 gallons of water
a day for drinking and cooking. Assuming you were to use bottled water
either from the store or from one of the home delivery services for these
purposes, the cost would be roughly $3,500 a year, or $9.52 a day –
and you and your family would still get to shower in chemicals, recycle
plastics, and hassle with hauling water or paying monthly for a service
you don’t own.
The Aqua Guardian system at $3,995 produces 1,500,000
gallons of pure water for your whole house needs, and costs only $584
a year, $1.62 a day – or $.01 for 7 gallons of pure water.
With Nu Flow Water Filtration Systems there
is only one, two-hour installation, saving you the expense and time of
replacing inferior system filters every few months, or paying a monthly
service for a ‘one-tap’ drinking water source, or buying cases
and gallons of bottled drinking water every week. The one-time cost of
the Nu Flow Filtration System more than compensates for the long-term
payout for other, inferior products, and the hassle of keeping them maintained.
Equally important cost factors are preserving your plumbing
system and property investment, and ensuring lower utility bills because
pipes remain intact. Pipes filled with calcium build-up or eroded from
chloramines require more pumping power to maintain required flow levels
and water capacity. Thus, water with chloramines removed means less calcium
build-up and less pipe erosion, which conserves both water and power,
as well as prolongs the life of your plumbing system. Nu Flow Water Filtration
is the best technology at the best price for the protection of your home
and property values, and most important of all – the long term health
and well-being of you and your family.
A .01 cent per day cost for pure water from every tap,
from a system you own and can take with you if you move – it just
makes sense!
Warranty
Nu Flow Water Filtration Systems are guaranteed
for approximately 8 to 10 years of use before service is required. The
Carbon Activated Filter will produce about 1.5 million gallons, and the
Ultra Filter will produce about 750,000 gallons, of safe, purified water
for your whole house before service on either unit is required. Nu Flow
provides a ten year warranty on the mechanical performance of its filters.
